Library Board president resigns

A job offer that will require Murat Bates to travel around the world, left the Lawrence Memorial District Library Board president in a position to resign.

Bates said he was offered the new job April 22 and informed the board about his decision to resign at the April 23 Library Board meeting.

Bates said the Library Board was scheduled to vote for officers at the April 23 meeting, but with one board member absent and his decision to resign, the new officers will be voted on at the May 28 meeting.

Library Board Vice President Jamie Camp will oversee meetings until the officers have been named.

The Library Board will make a recommendation and the Climax Township Board will appoint a new Library Board member.
