WMU-Cooley Law Grand Rapids campus holds virtual Honors Convocation

Law students Rick Conklin, Courtney Panter and William Trenary were honored with WMU-Cooley Law School’s Grand Rapids campus Leadership Achievement Award on Nov. 13 at an Honors Convocation held virtually due to COVID-19.

Conklin, from Grand Rapids, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Valley State University.  While at WMU-Cooley Law School he has served as president and senator of the Student Bar Association, and as secretary of Moot Court. He has also served as a teaching assistant for Professor Devin Schindler.

Panter, from Flint, is also a GVSU graduate. During her tenure at WMU-Cooley, she served as secretary and executive board member of the Student Bar Association, as a general member of Moot Court, and participated in mock trial competitions.

Trenary, from Coldwater, is a University of Michigan alum.  While at WMU-Cooley Law School, he served as vice president of Moot Court; a teaching assistant for professors Michael Molitor, Tonya Krause-Phelan, Devin Schindler, and Kimberly O’Leary; and Preemption and Screening Editor for Law Review. He also served as a committee chair, mentorship committee member, and mentor for the Student Bar Association; a grade appeals magistrate;  an active member of the Black Law Students Association;  and a member of the Organization of Women Law Students.
