Summer Splash kicks off fund raising efforts

 The New Lawyers Committee (NLC) of the Oakland County Bar Association will host its Summer Splash on Thursday, Aug. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. Como’s, 22812 Woodward, in Ferndale.  The event kicks off the NLC’s fund raising efforts which will support Pets fo Vets this year.

Pets for Vets helps heal the emotional wounds of military veterans by paring them with a shelter dog that is specially selected to match his or her personality.  Professional animal trainers rehabilitate the dogs and teach them good manners to fit into the veteran’s lifestyle.  Training can also include desensitization to wheelchairs or crutches as well as recognizing panic or anxiety disorder behaviors.

The Summer Splash will feature appetizers and a cash bar will be available. Cost of admission is a cash donation to Pets for Vets.
