Bodman to host employment law seminar Nov. 10
Bodman PLC’s Workplace Law Group attorneys will host a seminar titled “Is Your Workplace Prepared for Increased Government Scrutiny?” on Monday, Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Schoolcraft College’s VisTaTech Center in Livonia.
The event is free and open to all business owners, HR officers, or other professionals with an interest in recent developments in workplace law.
Bodman attorneys Aaron Graves, Christopher Mazzoli, David Malinowksi, Karen Piper, Maureen Rouse-Ayoub, Charles Russman, and Donald Scharg will discuss legal issues related to the Affordable Care Act and other topics impacting employers. Attorneys will discuss recent changes in the law and provide practical recommendations for meeting increased government scrutiny in the workplace.
The program will include a guest speaker from N1Discovery, a leader in the field of digital forensics, e-discovery, and information technology security consulting. N1Discovery’s speaker will address the latest trends in technology and social media and their potential impact on employers.

Firm forms Ebola Rapid Response Team
Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, has formed an Ebola Rapid Response Team. The team’s primary focus is to assist employers with the employment law, traditional labor, and workplace safety issues related to the Ebola crisis. More specifically, the Ebola Rapid Response Team counsels employers on myriad legal obligations related to the Ebola crisis, including those involving Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), and National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) compliance, and assists with developing policies and written communications to employees regarding Ebola risks.
Ruthie Goodboe, a shareholder in Ogletree Deakins’ Detroit office, serves as a member of Ogletree Deakins’ Ebola Rapid Response Team. The team is comprised of six lawyers from a number of the firm’s offices and practice groups, including Employment Law, Workplace Safety and Health, and Traditional Labor Relations. In her role, Goodboe counsels employers on the traditional labor issues related to the Ebola crisis, such as dealing with protected concerted activity under the NLRA, collective bargaining obligations, and managing the employee relations aspects.
