Levin and Dingell reflect on the changing face of politics, May 21

Two of Michigan’s eminent legislative power brokers, Sen. Carl Levin and  U.S. Rep. John Dingell, will share lessons from their longstanding careers in public service during the Wayne State University Alumni Association’s Arthur Johnson Urban Perspectives Lecture Series at noon on Thursday, May 21, at Wayne State University, 441 Gilmour Mall, Alumni House, in Detroit.

Levin and Dingell both retired from office last January after a combined 96 years of service. Levin served 36 years in the Senate, was chairman of the Armed Services Committee and served on the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. Dingell served a record 60 years, making him the longest-serving member of the House of Representatives in U.S. history. In this appearance together at Wayne State, they will reflect on the changing face of politics and the challenges that lie ahead for the next generation.

The event is sponsored by the Arthur L. Johnson Urban Perspectives Lecture Series and is made possible in part by DTE Energy Foundation.

The Arthur L. Johnson Urban Perspectives Lecture Series began in 1992 and is named in honor of the civil rights leader and former Wayne State University administrator. The series features distinguished corporate and civic leaders who speak on a wide range of topical issues including politics, business, law and the arts.
