The Levin Center at Wayne State University Law School and the law school's Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights will present "New President, New Congress What to Expect" on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
This panel discussion will explore the outcome of the elections and expectations moving forward. What changes can we anticipate in terms of economic policy, civil rights, international relations and overall public policy? What will be the impact on Michigan, the United States as a whole and the rest of the world?
The program will be from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in the Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium at the law school, 471 W. Palmer St. Lunch will be provided. The event is free, but registration is requested at law.wayne.edu/elect2016. Parking will be available for $7.50 (credit or debit cards only) in Parking Structure No. 1 across West Palmer Street from Wayne Law.
Panelists will be:
- Kevin Deegan-Krause, associate professor, Wayne State University Department of Political Science.
- George Franklin, president, Franklin Public Affairs LLC.
- State Sen. Mike Kowall, majority floor leader, Michigan State Senate.
- Former U.S. Sen. Carl Levin, chair of the Levin Center at Wayne Law, distinguished legislator in residence at Wayne Law and senior counsel to Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP in Detroit.
- Rochelle Riley, columnist, Detroit Free Press.
Moderator will be Elise Bean, co-director of training and conferences for the Levin Center at Wayne Law, and former staff director and chief counsel for the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.
