From there to here and from here to there
Forty-seven years ago this week, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down the infamous Roe v. Wade opinion. Given the spate of state legislation designed to tee up a revisit or reversal of its tenets, it is hard to believe that other goings on in our nation's capital are dominating the legal landscape in its stead. Today's legal landscape is awash with the influence of partisanship, and contest. When you take a step back, it leads to only one revelation:
From there to here
From here to there
Funny things are everywhere
One wish, two wish
Red wish, blue wish
The same old issues
Are again now newish
This one adds a man named Starr
A man experienced by far
But say! What a lot of fish there are
Yes, some are red and some are blue
Some are old and some are new
Some are sad and some are glad
And some are very very bad
Why are they sad, and glad and bad?
I do not know
Go ask your dad.
Some are thin and some are fat
But no one tries to find the facts
From there to here
From here to there
Funny things are everywhere
Democrats all like to run
They run for fun
In the hot, hot sun.
Oh me! Oh my!
Oh me! Oh my!
What a lot
Of funny things go by.
Some have two PACs
And some have four
Some have six
And some have more
Where do they come from?
I can't say
But one little mayor's come
A long, long way.
We see them come
We see them go
Some are fast and some are slow
Some are high and some are low
Not one of them is like another
Don't' ask us why
Go ask your mother.
But do any really know the law
Have they checked what came before?
Is this a trial where lawyers matter?
Or is this a different matter
Do we need a judge or a mad hatter?
But before all the smoke has cleared
All will join hands and together cheer
Because despite the turmoil across the row
When halftime comes
There's J-Lo
From there to here
From here to there
Funny things are everywhere
One wish, two wish
Red wish, blue wish
The same old issues
Are again now newish
Yes, some are red and some are blue
Some are old and some are new
Some are sad and some are glad
And some are very very bad
