Carol Goss, president and CEO of The Skillman Foundation, was saluted as the recipient of the “Soul and Spirit Humanitarian Award” at the 23rd annual Soul Food Luncheon on Feb. 16 in Detroit. The event, the brainchild of U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Damon A. Keith, attracted more than 400 federal, state and local dignitaries to the United States Courthouse, serving as a tribute to Goss for her work on behalf of Detroit area youth. Goss and Judge Keith are joined by (l-r) Robert Bobb, emergency financial manager for Detroit Public Schools; Faye Nelson, president and CEO of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy; and Detroit Mayor Dave Bing.
