Honigman partner appointed to Gift of Life Michigan Board
Maurice S. Binkow, a partner in Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP’s Real Estate Department, has been appointed to the board of Gift of Life Michigan, a full-service organ and tissue recovery organization.

Binkow has counseled property developers, owners, lenders and investors in real estate development and project finance for more than 45 years. He focuses his practice on federal, state and local real estate and entity tax structuring, securitized financing and complex transactions. Binkow also serves as counselor and trustee to high net worth individuals and families in their business, asset and tax planning. In addition, Binkow is the Chair of Honigman’s Opinion Committee and counsels the firm on real estate and leasing issues.

Aside from his volunteer work with Gift of Life, Binkow is the former Chair of the American Jewish Committee, Detroit Chapter; a member of the Finance Committee and former Board member of the University Musical Society at the University of Michigan; and a member of the University of Michigan School of Music Advisory Council.

Binkow has been named in Best Lawyers from 1983 to 2010 and “Detroit Best Lawyers Real Estate Lawyer of the Year” for 2010, as well as in Michigan Super Lawyers from 2006 to present. He is AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and was named a top Lawyer by DBusiness in 2010.

He received a LL.B., cum laude, from Harvard Law School and his A.B., Phi Beta Kappa with distinction, from the University of Michigan.

DMBA and WCBA’s “Ask the Judges” series held May 18
The Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association and the Wayne County Family Bar Association will host “How Cases are Won and Lost in the Family Division,” a third panel discussion in the “Ask the Judges” series. The panel will be made up of Honorable Eric Cholack, Honorable Muriel Hughes, Honorable Maria Oxholm, and Honorable Lita Popke. The discussion will be moderated by Retired Circuit Judge William J. Giovan. The event will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. May 18 at Compuware Auditorium. An afterglow will be held at Hard Rock Cafe.
