35th Circuit Court Criminal Law Update
The 35th Circuit Court is hosting a Criminal Law Update Aug. 9 featuring Professor Ronald Bretz and criminal defense attorney Matthew Abel. Bretz will provide the same yearly Criminal Law update that he provides to Michigan judges. Abel will discuss the Medical Marihuana Act. The 35th Circuit Court is hosting the event, which is free to Shiawassee County Bar Association Members. The 35th Circuit Court is requesting a $25 donation to the Shiawassee County Bar Association for non-members who wish to attend. The seminar will be hosted at the 35th Circuit Court in Corunna from 9 a.m. until noon. Basic training session on acting as a guardian
The Probate Court and Citizens Alliance announce the upcoming training session. On Wednesday, Aug. 11, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., attorney Thomas B. Fraser will provide practical information on acting as a guardian (for adults). The seminar will be held in courtroom W3, located in the west wing extension of the Oakland County courthouse at 1200 N. Telegraph Road in Pontiac. MDTC presents Young Lawyers Breakfast
The Michigan Defense Trial Counsel will present its Young Lawyers Section Breakfast Seminar on Thursday, Aug. 12, from 8 to 9 a.m. at Plunkett Cooney, 38505 Woodward Avenue, Suite 2000, in Bloomfield Hills. WCPBA, MCPBA host 3rd annual Pryder Cup
The Wayne County Probate Bar Association and the Macomb County Probate Bar Association will host the third annual Pryder Cup on Thursday, Aug. 12, at the Lochmoor Club in Grosse Pointe Woods. The format is based on the Ryder Cup competition with two golfers from Wayne County will compete against two golfers from Macomb County based upon handicaps using a combination of best ball, scramble and every other shot format. The winner of the team ‘competition’ will be able to designate the charity to whom all profits from the outing will be donated. Participants will be teamed on day of outing. Arrive by 11:30 a.m., if possible. Cost is $100 per person, which includes golf, cart, lunch, non-alcoholic beverages, heavy hors d’oeuvres.
