Holiday hours
The Third Circuit Court Civil, Criminal and Family Divisions will be closed Friday, Nov. 26 in observance of Thanksgiving. The court will reopen Monday, Nov. 29.

In observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday, the 36th District Court will be closed to the public on Friday Nov. 26.  Only criminal arraignments will be conducted.

The Wayne County Clerk’s Office will be closed on Friday, Nov. 26 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

All offices of the United States District Court and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan will be closed on Friday, Nov. 26, for the Thanksgiving holiday. In case of emergency, call (313) 234-5656.

The Michigan Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, and the State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) will be closed on Friday Nov. 26, for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Brodeur-McGeorge elected to board of nonprofit Solid Ground
Laura A. Brodeur-McGeorge, a partner in Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn’s Labor and Employment Department, has been elected to the Board of Solid Ground, a nonprofit organization based in Macomb County and dedicated to helping the homeless, and those at risk of becoming homeless, to achieve and maintain independence.

Brodeur-McGeorge focuses her practice on counseling clients on employment matters, employee health and safety issues, contract disputes, trade secrets and restrictive covenants. She also litigates employment matters in federal and state courts and before various administrative agencies and arbitration tribunals. 

Brodeur-McGeorge is a member of the State Bar of Michigan Client Protection Fund Committee, a Fellow of the Oakland County Bar Foundation and a member of the American Bar Association, Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association and the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan.

Brodeur-McGeorge earned a J.D., cum laude, from Wayne State University Law School and a B.S. in management from Oakland University.

IABAM’s Winter Gala at Detroit Athletic Club
The Italian American Bar Association of Michigan (IABAM) is hosting its annual Winter Gala at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, December 3 at The Detroit Athletic Club, located at 241 Madison in Detroit. The Winter Gala will feature hors d’oeuvres, premium bar, dinner and dessert bar. The event also will feature live music and entertainment. A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of scholarships and awards.

The ticket price is $100 per person or $1,000 for a table of ten. The ticket price for students is $50 per person. The event is black tie optional. Seating is limited.
