Judge assigned to hear misconduct case against Judge Justin
JACKSON, Mich. (AP) — A judge has been assigned to hear an ethics complaint against a judge in Jackson County who’s accused of widespread misconduct, including dismissing his own traffic tickets.

Pamela McCabe of Ingham County will conduct a formal hearing into the allegations against Judge James Justin. The state Judicial Tenure Commission filed an 87-page complaint in November.

The complaint portrays Justin as a District Court judge with an unusual style of justice. The complaint says he dismissed traffic cases after talking to people in the hallway or elsewhere outside court.

Justin is accused of dismissing tickets for himself, his wife, friends and court staff. His lawyer has said he deserves no more than a reprimand. The judge has been suspended with pay since July. He's been on the bench for decades.
