Honigman attorney Carol Friend appointed to Music Hall board
Carol A. Friend, partner and chair of Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn’s Business Immigration Practice Group, was recently appointed to the Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts Board of Trustees. Music Hall provides accessible music, theater, dance and other performance programming and education to a diverse audience.  Music Hall, a cultural resource for the Detroit area, opened in 1928.
Friend concentrates her practice in the area of employment-based immigration and represents national and international companies in obtaining authorization for employees to work temporarily and permanently in the United States and abroad.  Her practice encompasses a wide variety of industries.
She has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America from 2009 to 2011; in DBusiness’ list of “Top Lawyers” in 2010 and 2011; and in Michigan Super Lawyers in 2010.
Aside from her new position with Music Hall, Friend has served on the Board of Directors of InForum since 2008. 
Friend earned a J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School  and a B.G.S. with a concentration in business from Oakland University.

Photojournalist to be honored by Oakland County commissioners
The Oakland County Board of Commissioners will honor photojournalist and author, Linda Solomon, with a proclamation at its Thursday, April 21 board meeting at 9:30 a.m. An Oakland County resident, Solomon was recently inducted into the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame.
She was instrumental in assisting the Oakland County Family-Focused Juvenile Drug Court by having participants in the program become involved in the “My Hope for America” photography project. 
Her “Pictures of Hope” project with Tucson, Ariz., children who were living in homeless shelters was featured on CBS Evening News.

Be advised that the Wayne County Probate Court will close at noon in observance of Good Friday on Friday, April 22 and will reopen on Monday, April 25 at 8 a.m.
The Wayne County Clerk’s Office will close Friday, April 22, at noon in observance of Good Friday. Note: Campaign Finance — CAYMC, Room 502, will remain open until 5 p.m.
The Third Circuit Court Civil, Criminal and Family Divisions will close at noon on Friday, April 22, in observance of Good Friday.
