Glad Grads

In May, Drug Courts across the nation celebrated National Drug Court Month with the theme of ‘Drug Courts: A Proven Budget Solution.’ Advocates for drug courts assert that they provide vast savings to the criminal justice system.  A recent study by the Department of Justice found a cost/benefit of $3.36 for $1 invested in treating drug-addicted offenders under the supervision of a drug court.

In celebration of “National Drug Court Month,” the Third Judicial Circuit - Adult Drug Treatment Court held its annual commencement at noon on May 16 at The Salvation Army, Adult Rehabilitation Center. It was the court’s 7th formal ceremony since it was founded in 2003. The ceremony marks the completion of an intensive program of comprehensive drug treatment, close supervision, educational services (including G.E.D. and Relapse Prevention courses) and full accountability.
