LAD to hold workshop on how to expunge criminal records

Legal Aid and Defender Association, Inc. will conduct a workshop on expungement of criminal records for residents of Wayne, Macomb and Oakland counties Thursday, Nov. 7 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Don Bosco Hall Community Resource Center, 19321 W. Chicago St., Room 103.

Michigan allows for expungement, or removal from the public record, of records of single criminal convictions after five years, according to LAD’s legal rights handbook for former offenders.
Not all convictions can be expunged, including those for crimes that carry possible life sentences and traffic convictions such as drunk driving, or where there is lifetime probation.
LAD will conduct the workshop in partnership with Cody Rouge Family Connect. Call Sierra Dunklin of Family Connect at (313) 493-9129 by Nov. 1 to register for the workshop.
