Aaron named chair of SBM's Negligence Section

Jody L. Aaron, a Detroit-based personal injury and medical malpractice attorney with Johnson Law, has been elected to a 1-year term as chair of the Negligence Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan.

Aaron served as vice chair for the past year.

"I am quite honored to have been selected to chair this most outstanding group of top-notch civil litigators," Aaron said. "Participation in the Negligence Section, and on the board in particular, has offered a unique opportunity to remain in the forefront of developing trends in negligence law and to continue efforts to ensure the right to jury trial for all parties in the area of negligence law. I look forward to a very productive year."

The Negligence Law Section promotes the interests of justice in the civil litigation context with a principal focus on preserving and protecting the right to jury determination of disputes and on scholarship among State Bar members, while also promoting the fair, equitable and timely progress of negligence litigation in the Michigan trial and appellate courts. The group is unusual in that it effectively represents the interests of both sides of the civil litigation arena - plaintiffs and defendants.

"Johnson Law and I are so proud of Jody and all she has accomplished throughout her career. Being chairperson of the Negligence Section of our State Bar is an incredible honor and speaks to the wide range of respect and admiration lawyers throughout the state of Michigan have for Jody," said attorney Ven Johnson. "She is truly one the best lawyers in our state."

Aaron, who earlier this year was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, has been a litigator for 30 years. She has handled cases at the state and federal level, and she focuses primarily on medical and nursing negligence actions.

A cum laude graduate of Wayne State University's Law School, Aaron has served in a host of leadership positions with the Oakland County Bar Association and the county chapter of the American Inn of Court.
