Fowl Play

The Fowling Warehouse in Hamtramck was the site of the Oakland County Bar Association’s 10th Annual Challenge between the New Lawyers Committee (NLC) and the OCBA Board on Thursday, April 16. Instead of the usual bowling challenge, the teams squared off in the football bowling pin game known as Fowling, a hybrid game that combines elements of football, bowling, and horseshoes. The object of the game is for teams to be the first to knock all their opponents pins down by throwing a football at 10 bowling pins that are positioned in a triangular format. Among those trying their hand at the new sport were (l-r) Kevin Kleinstiver, Chris Lang, Maureen McGinnis, Jake Cunningham, Rodney Johnson, Megan McGown, Judy Cunningham, Mark MacEachern, NLC Chair Syeda Davidson, Peter Keros, OCBA President-elect David Carl Anderson, Jason Bodmer, OCBA Treasurer Vicki Valentine, Chris Laenen, Andrew Perun, Amanda Frank, Jeff Bagalis, Oakland County 50th District Court Judge Cynthia Walker, OCBA Secretary Gerry Gleeson, Karen Safran, and Jihan Williams. The NLC team won 8-6 but both teams had a good time while raising funds for Pets for Vets. Each year the NLC chooses a charity to advocate for and to whom it dedicates the proceeds of its fund-raising efforts.  Stout Risius Ross was the sponsor for this year’s fowling challenge.
