Snyder makes list of appointments

Reappointments made to the Michigan Women’s Commission


Gov. Rick Snyder announced on Friday the appointments of Darlene Lee, of Grand Rapids, Sara Schroeder, of Saginaw, and Beverly Wall, of Grand Rapids, to the Michigan Women’s Commission.

The 15-member commission improves the quality of life for Michigan women, including providing support for veterans, fighting human trafficking and assisting business owners.

“I appreciate the commission’s commitment to enhancing the lives of Michigan women and look forward to the future contributions of these appointees,” Snyder said.

Lee will serve the remainder of a three-year term expiring July 15, 2016, Schroeder will serve the remainder of a three-year term expiring July 15, 2017, and Wall will serve a three-year term expiring July 15,
2018. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.

 

Appointment made to the Human Trafficking Health Advisory Board
 

Gov. Rick Snyder announced on Friday the appointment of Jayashree Kommareddi, of Grand Blanc, to the Human Trafficking Health Advisory Board.

Created by Public Act 461 of 2014, the seven-member board is housed within the Department of Health and Human Services. The board collects and analyzes information concerning medical and mental health services available to survivors of human trafficking, identify state, federal and local agencies that are involved with issues relating to human trafficking, and coordinates the dissemination of information concerning medical and mental health services available to survivors of human trafficking in Michigan.

“Jayashree brings a wealth of knowledge to  the board and I thank her for her service,” Snyder said.

Kommareddi will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2018 and will serve as chair expiring at the pleasure of the governor. Her appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.

 

Appointment and ­reappointment made  to the Board of Ethics


Gov. Rick Snyder announced on Friday the appointment of Patrick Barrett, of Birmingham, and the reappointments of Lawrence Glazer, of Okemos, and Albert Nelson Jr., of Troy, to the State Board of Ethics.

The seven-member board serves as an advisory and investigatory committee which determines the ethical conduct of classified and unclassified state employees and public officers in the executive branch of Michigan state government.

“These individuals are exceptional choices for this board,” Snyder said. “I am confident their backgrounds, skills and experiences will assist the board in maintaining the highest ethical standing across state government.”

Appointees will serve four-year terms expiring Feb. 7, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.

 

Appointment and ­reappointment made to Certificate of Need Commission


Gov. Rick Snyder announced on Friday the appointment of Debra Guido-Allen, of Sterling Heights, and the reappointment of Jessica Kochin, of Dexter, to the Certificate of Need Commission.

The 11-member commission regulates and balances cost, quality and access to Michigan’s health care system by developing and updating the Certificate of Need standards. No more than six members can be from the same political party.

“I am confident that Debra and Jessica will effectively serve in these roles, and continue the important work of ensuring all Michiganders have access to and receive quality, affordable health care,” Snyder said.

Members serve three-year terms expiring Jan. 1, 2019. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.

 

Appointment, ­reappointments made  to the Michigan Public School Employees’ Retirement System Board


Gov. Rick Snyder announced on Friday the appointment of Ann Gabrielle Kroneman, of Okemos, and the reappointments of Stephen Epstein, of West Bloomfield, Kevin Philipps, of Kentwood, and Larry Ward, of Williamston, to the Michigan Public School Employees’ Retirement System Board.

The board is responsible for general oversight of retirement, survivor and disability benefits to employees in public school districts, intermediate school districts, and certain community colleges and universities.
“I look forward to the work that these members will continue to do to provide retirement options for public school employees,” Snyder said.

Members will serve four-year terms expiring March 30, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.

 

Appointment made to the Michigan Tax Tribunal


Gov. Rick Snyder announced on Friday the appointment of Marcus Abood, of Lansing, to the Michigan Tax Tribunal.

The tribunal is an administrative court responsible for hearing tax appeals for several categories of Michigan taxes. Most of the tribunal’s appeals involve property taxes, though it also hears business and individual tax disputes.

“Marcus’ professional experience in the appraisal and legal fields will be instrumental to the tribunal as it works to resolve tax disputes, and I thank him for his service,” Snyder said.

Abood will serve the remainder of a four-year term commencing Feb. 29, 2016 and expiring June 30, 2019. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.

 

Reappointments made to the State Council for Interstate Juvenile Supervision


Gov. Rick Snyder announced on Friday the reappointment of Cheri Arwood, of St. Johns, and Dale Murray, of St. Johns to the State Council for Interstate Juvenile Supervision.

Created by Executive Order 2013-5, the four-member council oversees the state’s involvement in the Interstate Commission for Juveniles. The council is responsible for enhancing accountability, enforcement, visibility and communication regarding the monitoring and return of juveniles who have left their state or residence without permission.

“I thank both Cheri and Dale for their continued service on this council and look forward to their ongoing contributions,” Snyder said.

Members serve four-year terms expiring Feb. 12, 2020. Their appointments are not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.

 

Reappointments made  to the Michigan Trails Advisory Council


Gov. Rick Snyder announced on Friday the reappointments of William Manson, of Rockford, Jason Rolling, of Negaunee, and Frank Wheatlake, of Big Rapids, to the Michigan Trails Advisory Council.

 The 11-member council advises the Department of Natural Resources on the creation, development, operation, and maintenance of motorized and non-motorized trails in the state, including, but not limited to, snowmobile, biking, equestrian, hiking, off-road vehicle, and skiing trails. 

“Michigan’s trails highlight the natural beauty of our state and are a key aspect of our economy,” Snyder said. “I am confident that these appointees will help protect and grow these vital assets.”

Members will serve four-year terms expiring Jan. 17, 2020. Their appointments are not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.

 

Appointment made to the Michigan Board of Massage Therapy


Gov. Rick Snyder announced on Friday the appointment Lynn Wolf, of Petoskey, to the Michigan Board of Massage Therapy.

The 11-member board plays an advisory role and assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs with overseeing the practice of massage therapists.

“Lynn is an experienced professional, and I know she will do great work on this board,” Snyder said.

Wolf will serve a four-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2019. Her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.

 

Appointment, ­reappointments made  to the Michigan Board of Dentistry


Gov. Rick Snyder announced on Friday the appointment of Jennifer Kindel, of Auburn, to the Michigan Board of Dentistry.

The 19-member board assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs in overseeing and regulating the practice of more than 7,800 dentists, 10,100 dental hygienists and 1,400 dental assistants.

“Jennifer brings years of experience to this board,” Snyder said. “I am confident she will do great work to help ensure improved quality of oral health services for all Michiganders.”

Kindel will serve the remainder of the four-year term expiring June 30, 2019. Her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
