A 'Plum' of an OCBA golf outing attracts a crowd

Plum Hollow Country Club, the site of the 1947 PGA Championship, was the setting of the annual golf outing for the Oakland County Bar Association on July 25.

More than 100 golfers took part in the event, which was played under sunny skies and in sweltering 90-degree heat at the tree-lined Southfield layout, which hosted the Michigan Amateur Championship in 2015.

Fittingly, during the week of this year's PGA Championship, the team of Ryan Hill, Dave Vblansky, Chris Hicks, and Craig Hicks posted a sensational 17-under par score of 55 to win top honors at the OCBA outing, which featured a four-player scramble format. The team's winning score was highlighted by a pair of eagles on par 5 holes at Plum Hollow.

Capturing closest to the pin honors for men was Rob Morad. Closest to the pin honors for women was won by Pamela Kroll, who also socked the longest drive for women. Craig Hicks boomed the longest drive for men. The straightest drive contest was won by Kyle Kosmena.

Stout Risius Ross was the lead sponsor for the outing, which over the years has been staged at some of the finest golf courses in Oakland County. The beverage cart sponsor was Cendrowski Corporate Advisors, while the cart sponsor was J. Hauswirt Group. The sponsor for the driving range/putting green was Capital Mortgage Funding. The hole-in-one contest was sponsored by Paragon Underwriters, while the Safe Ride sponsor was The Mendelson Law Firm and Designated Driver Services. Twenty-eight hole sponsors also added their support to the outing, which included an awards dinner featuring a host of prize drawings.
