Fair Labor

Bodman PLC hosted a series of presentations on new Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulations establishing minimum salary levels for maintaining exempt status which take effect on Dec. 1, 2016. Happy to discuss the FLSA on Thursday, Nov. 17, at Bodman’s Troy office were Bodman’s Karen Piper (left) and Danielle Lester. “The Department of Labor’s new overtime rule was scheduled to become effective on December 1, 2016,” Piper noted. “The rule would have more than doubled the minimum salary required to be paid to employees exempt from overtime pay requirements. However, a federal district court in Texas issued an injunction preventing implementation of the new rule.” Interested parties were invited to join members of Bodman’s Workplace Law Group for a practical and expedient discussion that covered the highlights of the new FLSA regulations and addressed the tasks that need to be completed to ensure that each business is in compliance.
