Raising awareness

On August 12, S.O.A.P. Metro Detroit conducted its 3rd annual pre-Dream Cruise human trafficking prevention event at the Southfield Public Library. S.O.A.P. stands for “Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution” and its mission is to partner with local community volunteers, organizations, churches and law enforcement to help eradicate sex trafficking. On hand to support S.O.A.P. was Oakland County Commissioner Janet Jackson (far right) along with (l-r) Jennifer Butler, Rhonda Hines, Devaun Chandler, and Patrishia Chandler. During the event, volunteers packaged free soap labeled with a human trafficking hotline number, along with information on missing youth, to distribute to local hotels and motels throughout Oakland County. The effort aims to raise awareness about human trafficking and reach victims who may be looking for resources or help.
