Attorney named new chair of MDTC’s General Liability Section

Fraser Trebilcock attorney Shaina R. Reed was recently appointed Chair of the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel’s (MDTC) General Liability Section.

The MDTC is an association that consists of the top lawyers in the state that are dedicated to the representation of individuals and corporations in civil litigation. In addition to the valued and respected services they provide, the significant impact of MDTC is shown through its amicus briefs, which provide relevant, additional information in support of issues often times at the request of the Michigan Supreme Court.

For the past four years, Reed has been named a “Rising Star” in Michigan by Super Lawyers Magazine showcasing her talents in civil litigation, employment, and labor law. Outside of her litigation prowess,
Reed is an active member of her community. She is on the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan where she is a member of the Court Rules, Forms, and Procedures Committee, and she is also a member of the Women Lawyers’ Association of Michigan.

Schuette, Whitmer want 3 debates in  governor’s race

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Republican Bill Schuette and Democrat Gretchen Whitmer want to square off in at least three televised debates in their race for Michigan governor.

Schuette, the state's attorney general, on Thursday proposed a minimum of three debates before November's election — one in Detroit, one in Grand Rapids and an additional debate or debates in Flint, Lansing or Traverse City.

Whitmer, a former legislative leader, is proposing three debates. She wants one in Detroit focused on education and skills training, one in Flint focused on water and infrastructure and one in Grand Rapids focused on health care.

Whitmer and Schuette won their primaries this week. Debate negotiations could begin in coming weeks.

In 2014 and 2010, Rick Snyder met for one debate against his Democratic opponent in each year.
