• Federal Bar Association Eastern District of Michigan Chapter Appellate Practice Panel Seminar

The Federal Bar Association Eastern District of Michigan Chapter’s Appellate Practice Committee presents a seminar from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16 in the Detroit Room of the Eastern District of Michigan Courthouse, 231 W. Lafayette Blvd. in Detroit. The panel, hosted by BSP, Jones Day and the Appellate Practice Committee, will compare and contrast state and federal appellate practice, provide appellate practice tips, and share perspectives on successful oral arguments. The panelists include Judge Joan Larsen, United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit; Michigan Supreme Court Justice David F. Viviano; and Paul D. Hudson, principal and Appeals Section chair of Miller Canfield. Moderators are Meghan Sweeney Bean of Jones Day; and Derek J. Linkous of Bush Seyferth & Paige PLLC. • Women’s Bar Association-Oakland Trivia Night
April 18

Join friends, family, and colleagues for a unique Trivia Night put on by the Women’s Bar Association-Oakland from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, April 18. It will be held at Jolly Pumpkin, 419 S. Main St. in Royal Oak. Non-attorney family and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend. Gather a trivia team (up to 6 people) together or sign up and get assigned to a team when you arrive. Food and drinks begin at 5:30 p.m.; trivia will begin promptly at 6 p.m. The cost to attend is $40 per person in advance or $50 at the door, and includes food, two rounds of trivia, and two drink tickets.
