Clinic Anniversary

The University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, Miller Canfield, and the Oakland County Bar Association celebrated the first anniversary of the Federal Pro Se Legal Assistance Clinic during the Pro Se Clinic Soiree on Tuesday, June 18, at Miller Canfield’s Detroit offices. The clinic, located at the Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse in Detroit, opened January 16, 2018. It offers legal assistance to low-income citizens representing themselves in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. On hand for the celebration to raise funds for the clinic were (l-r) Gerald Gleeson of Miller Canfield, Detroit Mercy Law grad DaiChanai Jones, Detroit Mercy Law Clinical Coordinator Rebecca Nowak, U.S. District Court Judge Victoria Roberts, Detroit Mercy Law Director of Clinical Programs Prof. Nick Schroeck, U.S. District Court Chief Judge Denise Page Hood, Detroit Mercy Law Dean Phyllis Crocker, Wendy Richards of Miller Canfield, Clinic Director Kevin Carlson, and Detroit Mercy Law Prof. Anne Yantus.
