Mitigating Risk

The Metropolitan Detroit Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) presented “It Would NOT Happen at My Firm! Workplace Violence on Your Doorstep...” on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Joe Muer Seafood in Detroit. Speaking at the program was Kathryn Scourby (second from left), principal of KNS Consulting LLC. She works with professional service firms to achieve their goals in the areas of business continuity, disaster preparedness, risk management, and compliance. “Everybody knows there’s a lot of violence out there in the world, especially active shooters in the world today,” Scourby noted. “I’ll be sharing with the chapter today different things that people in law firms can do to try and look at what risks are out there and help mitigate those risks so that violence never happens in their workplace.” Scourby retired after 33 years with international law firm Hunton &?Williams LLP. Happy to welcome Scourby to the lunch meeting were (l-r) ALA Treasurer Kathy Batts of Grace M. Thomas & Assoc., ALA Secretary Linda Reyna of Dickinson Wright PLLC, and ALA Director of Membership Dana Burleigh of Foley & Mansfield.
