ABA Forum on Air and Space Law to host Annual Meeting in Seattle

The American Bar Association Forum on Air and Space Law will host its 2019 Annual Meeting on Sept. 12-13 at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle. Leading air and space officials, including aviation and aerospace lawyers, senior airline executives and government officials from around the world, will meet to discuss key issues such as the integration of new technologies, identity verification, aviation security, global trends, drones, space commerce, sexual misconduct, litigation, enforcement and consumer protection.

Arjun Garg, chief counsel at the Federal Aviation Administration, will be the keynote speaker at 8:15 a.m.  Thursday. Bonny Simi, president of JetBlue Technology Adventures, will be the luncheon speaker at 12:15 p.m. Friday.

Program highlights include:

• “Integrating New Technologies into the National Airspace System” — This panel will address the expansion of the use of drones and the various local, state and federal actions to oversee their use.

• “Who are you, really? A Look at the Legal Issues Surrounding Identity Verification and Aviation Security” — This panel will address legal challenges and opportunities around biometric usage and the upcoming deadline for REAL ID-compliant identification.

• “Space commerce — Steady Growth, Economic Bubble, or Something Else?” — This panel will discuss the viability and sustainability of the space industry.
