The Oakland County Bar Association, along with 18 affinity bar associations, gathered with colleagues at the biennial Taste of Diversity cocktail reception October 17 at the Great Lakes Culinary Center in Southfield, celebrating the diverse and multi-cultural legal profession. Jim Parks, past president of the OCBA and a partner with Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss, was the recipient of the Leon Hubbard Community Service Award, which recognizes a record of community service and the promotion of cultural diversity, the advancement of social equality, and efforts to enhance the quality of life for all. The D. Augustus Straker Bar Association was presented the Michael K. Lee Award, which recognizes the commitment to promoting cultural diversity in the legal community.
