Plante Moran transitions Healthcare Industry Group leader

Plante Moran Healthcare Industry Group Leader Matt Weekley has announced his retirement and is transitioning leadership of the practice to fellow partner Chris Jones.

After ensuring a smooth transition between group leaders, Weekley will retire on June 30. Jones' role leading the group, which has more than 200 team members in 12 offices across Plante Moran's footprint, is effective now.

Plante Moran's healthcare practice is one of the leading national financial and operational consulting practices, serving more than 2,100 clients in 42 states across the entire healthcare continuum. Clients include large health systems, community hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, independent and assisted living facilities, home health and hospice agencies, medical groups and physician practices, health plans, community-based service providers, and private equity groups.

Weekley has spent the last 20 years of his career in the firm's Columbus office, with more than a dozen of those years leading the healthcare practice. During his tenure, the healthcare practice revenue doubled and expanded to a national presence. Weekley has also been recognized as one of 20 People to Know in Health Care by Columbus Business First.

Active professionally and in the community, Weekley is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, the American Institute of CPAs and the Ohio Society of CPAs. Weekley is also a current board member of Marietta College, where he received his bachelor's degree in accounting. He additionally attended the Harvard Business School program, "Leading Professional Services Firms."

Jones, who practices in Southfield, previously led the Service Industry Practice Group and has been a Plante Moran CPA for more than 24 years. He provides business advisory, assurance and tax services to professional service firms, entertainment organizations and technology companies. He specializes in audit, financial statement audit, employee benefit plan audit, personal tax, professional services, technology companies, retail, professional services and manufacturing.

"His experience and expertise will allow him to successfully implement our health care strategic plan while also working to bundle healthcare services across industry lines."

Also active professionally and in the community, Jones is a member of the AICPA and the Michigan Association of CPAs. He is involved with Automation Alley, is an advisor for Oak Pointe Church and serves on the business advisory board for Life Remodeled.

Jones received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Eastern Michigan University.
