Monera revs up Plunkett Cooney's motor vehicle liability practice

Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest law firms, recently shifted its motor vehicle liability practice into even higher gear with the addition of senior attorney Lanae L. Monera.

A member of the firm’s Grand Rapids office, Monera focuses her practice primarily in the area of motor vehicle liability with particular expertise in resolving first- and third-party auto claims including claims filed through the Michigan Assigned Claims Plan. She also has extensive experience representing defendants in premises, dram shop (liquor) liability and construction claims.

“Lanae is a tremendous lawyer who adds even more depth to our growing motor vehicle liability practice,” said Plunkett Cooney’s President & CEO Dennis Cowan. “Her addition to our team really has the group firing on all cylinders!”

In addition to defending policyholders and insurance carriers in litigation, Monera prosecutes claims on behalf of motor vehicle insurers against other insurers under the Michigan No-Fault Act’s priority rules. She also has particular expertise in investigating and prosecuting fraudulent claims on behalf of insurance companies.

Monera is a 1996 graduate of Wayne State University Law School where she served as Wayne Law Review Editor from 1994 to 1996. She received her undergraduate degree in 1993 from Grand Valley State University.

A member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association and State Bar of Michigan, Monera is admitted to practice in the state courts of Michigan as well as in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan and in the Michigan Court of Appeals.

Plunkett Cooney’s motor vehicle liability practice extends throughout the states of Michigan, Ohio and Indiana, and it includes the resolution of cross-border claims stemming from disputes in Canada. The firm’s attorneys serve as panel counsel to some of the largest insurance providers in the world, including in the areas of motor vehicle liability, fraudulent claims, no-fault law and trucking liability.
