Foster Swift names Business & Corporate practice group leader

Todd Hoppe, a shareholder at Foster Swift Collins & Smith, P.C., has been named the new Business & Corporate Law practice group leader. Hoppe practices in the areas of business organization and planning, business transactions, succession planning, tax exempt organizations and charitable giving, estate planning and administration.

Hoppe joined the firm in 2003 as a summer associate and returned in 2004 after graduating from Vanderbilt Law School.  He received his undergraduate degree in Engineering Arts, with honor, from the Honors College at Michigan State University. In addition to his practice, Hoppe serves on the board of directors for the Michigan Technology Network and Grand Rapids Ballet.

Foster Swift is a full service law firm founded in 1902, employing more than 100 attorneys in Grand Rapids, Lansing, Detroit, Farmington Hills, Holland and Marquette.

Masternak to head WNJ recruitment

Warner Norcross & Judd LLP has appointed Brian J. Masternak to chair its nine-member Recruiting Committee.

The Recruiting Committee, on which Masternak has served for 13 years, conducts on-campus interviews at law schools nationwide to find the best law students for summer associate positions.  Successful summer associates often receive offers to join Warner Norcross full time after graduation. For the 2010-11 recruiting season, Warner Norcross received more than 2,000 applications and hired 11 summer associates.
