Gov. Snyder declares May 1 Paralegal/Legal Assistant Day

Governor Rick Snyder has issued a proclamation declaring May 1 Paralegal and Legal Assistant Day in Michigan to recognize the remarkable contributions paralegals and legal assistants have made to the justice system. Former Governor Engler first established Paralegal and Legal Assistant Day in 2000. View the proclamation on the SBM Paralegal and Legal Assistant Section website.

The State Bar of Michigan Paralegal/Legal Assistant Section will celebrate Paralegal and Legal Assistant Day during its Cheers, Chow and Know-How educational and networking event, at 12:30 p.m. on May 2 at Harringtons By the Bay in Traverse City. This event will feature lunch and a presentation about estate planning and cottage law.

The Paralegal/Legal Assistant Section, an affiliate section of the State Bar of Michigan, was established in 1990. Composed of approximately 450 practicing paralegals and legal assistants, it provides education and news to its members on a regular basis through the Michigan Paralegal Newsletter and monthly Newsblast.
Membership in the section is open to qualified legal assistants and to all members of the State Bar of Michigan.
