Three Warner Norcross partners elected to State Bar of Michigan leadership positions


Three partners from Warner Norcross & Judd LLP have been elected to leadership positions with the State Bar of Michigan.

Dennis J. Donohue has been elected chair of the Environmental Law Section and Gaëtan Gerville-Réache has been elected chair of the Appellate Practice Section. Sean H. Cook has been elected for a three-year term to the Taxation Section Council of the State Bar of Michigan. Each section provides education about their individual practice areas and issues through meetings, seminars, public service programs, a listserv and various specialized trade publications.

Based in Grand Rapids, Donohue concentrates his practice in environmental law with an emphasis on mining and resource development. He assists companies in obtaining the necessary regulatory and social licenses required to develop sustainable resource development projects. A member of the firm’s Resources, Energy and Environment Practice Group, Donohue previously served as a council member and an officer of the State Bar’s Environmental Law Section.

Gerville-Réache concentrates his practice in appellate litigation, representing corporations, banks and domestic and foreign governments in high-stakes appeals in both state and federal courts.  He has handled appeals with more than $100 million in controversy. A member of the firm’s Appellate and Supreme Court Practice Group, Gerville-Réache previously served as a council member and an officer of the State Bar’s Appellate Practice Section. He practices in the firm’s Grand Rapids office.

From his office in Southfield, Cook focuses his practice in tax, mergers and acquisitions, closely held businesses, trusts and estates, and general corporate law. He works closely with businesses on complex tax matters and has worked with both for-profit and non-profit companies. A certified public accountant, Cook chairs the firm’s Tax Practice Group.

 

Beard elected treasurer of the Aviation Law Section Council of the State Bar of Michigan
 

Mika Meyers attorney Joshua D. Beard has been elected Treasurer of the Aviation Law Section Council of the State Bar of Michigan.  The purpose of the Aviation Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan is to research, educate, share, and disseminate information about legal matters concerning aviation in all its aspects.

Joshua concentrates his practice in energy and oil and gas law and aviation law, as well as general civil litigation in both state and federal courts and property tax litigation in the Michigan Tax Tribunal.
