Droppers honored as 2016 Up and Coming Lawyer

Varnum attorney Jake Droppers has been named a 2016 "Up and Coming Lawyer" by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. He was recognized for the honor along with other members of the class on Thursday, Dec. 1 at the Detroit Marriott in Troy.

Up and Coming Lawyers are those who “go above and beyond, and display the ambition, drive, determination and accomplishments that set them apart among their peers – in their first 10 years in practice." Just 30 attorneys in Michigan were recognized this year.

Droppers is a member of Varnum's Corporate Services Team, focusing on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, corporate finance and other commercial transactions. He also has a unique focus on various aspects of food and agriculture law, advising clients on such matters as FDA labeling requirements and the Food Safety Modernization Act. He serves as Co-Chair of Varnum's Food Law Group.

Within the larger community, Droppers has extensive involvement with ACG Western Michigan, including serving on the Membership Committee and working with the ACG Young Professionals and ACG Cup. He also coordinates and hosts an annual networking event for young professionals and community leaders, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Kalamazoo Experiential Learning Center, which provides an on-site workplace for college interns in Kalamazoo and the surrounding community.
