Barnes &?Thornburg’s Environmental Department receives top rankings


The annual "Best Law Firms" rankings by U.S. News and Best Lawyers ranked Barnes amd Thornburg's Environmental Law Department again nationally as Tier 1 in environmental law and environmental litigation in the 2017 list. The department, led by Charles Denton of the Michigan office and Erika Powers of the Chicago office, is composed of nearly 30 attorneys across the firm's 13 offices.

In metropolitan areas, the Environmental Law Department earned top marks, including Grand Rapids as a Tier 1 in Environmental Law and a Tier 2 in Litigation - Environmental. Both the Chicago and Indianapolis offices were ranked Tier 1 in Environmental Law and Tier 1 in Litigation - Environmental.

 

Huff joins Varnum’s estate planning practice

Robert M. Huff has joined Varnum's estate planning practice. He is based in the firm's Grand Rapids office.

Huff focuses his practice on estate planning, tax and business. He is experienced with advanced estate planning vehicles and family limited partnerships. He works with various business entities including corporations, partnerships and LLCs.

Huff joins Varnum from a Florida firm where he practiced estate planning, tax and corporate work for the past three years. He is a 2013 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago.

Varnum's estate planning practice recently received the highest possible ranking in the inaugural edition of Chambers HNW, which rates service providers to the private wealth market. Varnum was ranked in the first band of legal providers, which covers private wealth management work and related specialties in key jurisdictions around the world.
