Varnum website focuses on user experience and on its clients

Varnum recently launched a new website featuring a fresh design that prominently showcases several well-known clients of the firm. The new site, launched Jan. 29, also includes security and compliance features for better user experience and accessibility.

While many new features of the site involve behind-the-scenes technology, one change that will be hard to miss is the strong client focus on the homepage. Noting the challenge of finding appropriate visual representation for a professional services firm, Varnum leadership said it made sense to put the emphasis on clients.

“We work with some of the finest companies and individuals in the state of Michigan, and our client relationships are one of our greatest assets,” said Varnum Chairman Dave Khorey. “We couldn’t be more proud to feature these clients on our new website, and we were delighted when they agreed to share their experience with us in a prominent way.”

Several clients from around the state and in a variety of industries were asked to participate, including:

—Cascade Engineering (Grand Rapids)

—Gerald R. Ford International Airport (Grand Rapids)

—Grand Circus (Detroit)

—Herman Miller, Inc. (Zeeland)

—John E. Green Company (Lansing)

—Spartan Motors, Inc. (Charlotte)

The firm plans to showcase other clients in the future. Other features of the new site include additional content and streamlined navigation, as well as several elements that are becoming standard on new websites, including:

—Encryption technology for enhanced security

—Web Content Accessibility Guideline (WCAG) compliance features

—Page print-to-formatted-PDF feature

—Predictive search, and

—Streamlined event registration and payment options.

The rebuild project also included attention to browser compatibility, search engine optimization and site speed. The new site will continue to house an online agriculture labor and employment guide with a secure login for subscribers.

Varnum’s website was last rebuilt in 2012, although features such as responsive design – to enhance usability on all desktop, mobile and tablet devices – have been added since then. The site currently receives about 15,000 visits per month.
