Grand Rapids Bar Association nominating committee announces 2018 candidates


Electronic voting will begin April 6 for the following GRBA positions nominated by the nominating committee, appointed by GRBA?President Joy Fossel and approved by the Board of Trustees (in alphabetical order): Vice President candidates: William M. Azkoul and Tracey W. Brame; candidates for Trustee: Wafe Adib-Lobo, Andrea J. Bernard, Kristin Brett, Richard A. Gaffin, Sangeeta Ghosh, Michael J. Roth.
Until March 29, the board secretary, Ingrid A. Jensen, will receive additional nominations for officers and trustees. Nominations must be made in writing, must be endorsed by at least fifty (50) active members, and received  at the Bar office ( 161 Ottawa Ave., NW, Suite 203B, Grand Rapids, MI 49503) not later than 12 p.m. on March 29, 2018.

 

Rhoades McKee welcomes Marissa Griggs
 


Marisa Griggs joins the firm as an Associate with the Human Resource and Employment Law Team. Prior to joining Rhoades McKee, Griggs served as Legal Counsel and Human Resources Director of a multi-state corporation overseeing more than 500 employees nationwide. She counseled and worked closely with senior-level managers on complex issues such as policy interpretation, performance and disability management, employee discipline and discharge, conflict resolution, and other issues representing significant risk to the corporation.

At Rhoades McKee, she will use this advantage to counsel employers and help them maintain lawful policies and practices in their day-to-day employment and labor issues, including the FMLA, EEOC, ADA, employee hiring, discipline and discharge decisions and wage and hour law.

Griggs is an active member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, and a member of the Women Lawyers Association of West Michigan. She completed her B.A. from Drexel University and her J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law.
