Anderson named board member of Midwest Institute for Sexuality and Gender Diversity

April 2, 2018 – Varnum attorney Matt Anderson has been named an inaugural board member of the Midwest Institute for Sexuality and Gender Diversity. He is one of three new board members for the organization which serves college and university students of diverse sexualities and genders.

The mission of the Institute is to empower students to inspire sustainable change, lead higher education colleagues in relevant and inclusive practices, and advance knowledge of sexuality and gender through advocacy and expansive programming. The Institute had its genesis in the Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Ally College Conference, America’s largest conference for queer and trans college students. The Institute now serves as the conference’s fiscal sponsor and parent organization.

As an inaugural board member, Anderson will assist in selecting additional board members and will help to shape the vision of the Institute as it expands its programming beyond the conference.

A litigator at Varnum, Anderson’s diverse practice includes general commercial litigation, real estate disputes, trade secret cases, white collar investigations, complex antitrust matters and family law.

Anderson is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School. He holds a certificate in Real Estate Development from Michigan's Rackham Graduate School, and also received his undergraduate degree in Film and Video studies from the University of Michigan.
