Dawn Garcia Ward named to Top 50 Latinas of Michigan

Dawn Garcia Ward, an attorney with Warner Norcross + Judd LLP, has recently been recognized as one of the top 50 Latinas of Michigan by the state’s Hispanic Latino Commission.

During the Statewide Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration in Saginaw, Ward was honored as one of the Latina women who have distinguished themselves in their organization, profession and community through a commitment to life-long learning and extension of their personal and professional resources. Additionally, honorees were selected for displaying a significant level of involvement in the community.
A former litigator to Fortune 500 companies, Ward concentrates her practice in records information management, data solutions, eDiscovery, privacy and security and related issues. She practices in the Holland office and routinely writes and speaks on the importance of record and data management.

Ward is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan, Hispanic Bar Association of Michigan and State Bar of New Mexico. She is also a member of the Association for Information and Image Management; ARMA International; and the Latina Professional Group of the Michigan West Coast Chamber of Commerce, which she and her colleague, Juanita Bocanegra, founded.

Ward received the 2017 Minority Business Champion Award from the Michigan West Coast Chamber and was named one of the “50 Most Influential Women in West Michigan" by the Grand Rapids Business Journal in 2016.

Previously, Ward served on the board of directors for the Hispanic Center of West Michigan, the Holland Historical Trust, the West Michigan Chapter of ARMA, Holland Hospital and the Holland Film Group. More recently, she has become a majority owner of a local Tier 2 auto supplier.

Additional West Michigan women named to the list include Sonya Hernandez (of Muskegon) who works at Grand Rapids Community College; Marisol Blanco, also of GRCC; Iracema Garcia of PNC Bank (GR); Paola Mendivil of El Granjero Mexican Grill (GR); Reyna Orellana Masko of Grand Haven; and four others from Holland.
