Zulakis named to 'Best Lawyers in America'

George Zulakis, a criminal and juvenile defense specialist with Baird and Zulakis, P.C., in Okemos is included in the most recent publication of The Best Lawyers in America in the subspecialty area of DUI Defense. He has received this honor every year, commencing in 2009.

An alumnus of Cooley Law School, Zulakis has represented clients successfully in criminal, juvenile, child abuse and neglect, traffic and education matters for over 30 years.

A former President, Vice-President, and Treasurer of the Ingham County Bar Association, he co-chaired the Ingham County Bar Association Criminal Law Section from 1999 to 2004. He currently serves on the board of the Ingham County Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the Ingham County Bar Association, of which he is a founding member, having served as Vice-President from 2001 until 2009 and President from 2009 to 2013.

The State Bar of Michigan named Zulakis a Fellow in 2003 and appointed him to the position of Attorney Discipline Hearing Panelist with the Attorney Discipline Board in 2001.

In 2004, Zulakis was appointed by Gov. Jennifer Granholm as the Criminal Defense Lawyer Designee to the State Community Corrections Board and reappointed in 2008 for a second term; serving until April 2012.

Other service has included an appointment by the Michigan Judicial Institute to the Advisory Committee in connection with the formulation and publication of the Child Protective Proceedings Bench Book, published in 1999.

Baird and Zulakis, P.C., established in 1980, serves the Tri-County area in all aspects of criminal and juvenile law.
