Foster Swift attorneys named to leadership positions with State Bar ACES Section

Jonathan H. Schwartz and John W. Mashni, attorneys with Foster Swift Collins & Smith, PC have been named to leadership positions during the 2017-2018 term for the State Bar of Michigan's Arts, Communication, Entertainment and Sports (ACES) Section. Schwartz will serve as this term's chair while Mashni will serve as treasurer.

The ACES Section provides education, information, and analysis about issues of concern regarding arts, communication, entertainment and sports through meetings, seminars, the web, public service programs, and the ACES newsletter.

Schwartz, who practices in the Southfield and Detroit offices, served on the ACES Section executive board for several years prior to becoming chair. He represents companies and individuals in many types of litigation, including business, complex commercial, employment, real estate, and entertainment matters. In addition, he assists clients with transactional matters, such as contract drafting, negotiations, and deal making, and all aspects of risk management, governance, and operation.

Mashni, who practices in the Lansing office, has served on the ACES Section council since 2015. He is an active member of the Startup Entrepreneurial Emerging Development (S.E.E.D.) Practice Group with a strong focus in business, tax, entertainment, intellectual property, and technology.  Prior to working at Foster Swift, he managed a media department at a large leadership development company. During this time, he also ran a production company, serving as a director, audio engineer, and visual effects artist.
