'Lids for Kids'

Michigan’s annual bike helmet giveaway and bicycle safety event, “Lids for Kids,” recently wrapped up another successful season. Concluding its 17th year in Lansing, 6th year in Grand Rapids event, and 4th year in Traverse City event, 2019 has without a doubt been the most successful season of “Lids for Kids.”

Sinas Dramis Law Firm partners with the Michigan Association of Justice, Brain Injury Association of Michigan (BIAMI), and Origami Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center, alongside local community sponsors in each area of the event.

Traverse City kickstarted the season, giving away 479 helmets. Lansing’s event, sponsored by WLAJ and WLNS, had the largest turn out since 2008, giving away 575 helmets. Grand Rapids concluded the season with 659 West Michigan community children receiving helmets.

A properly fitting bike helmet reduces the chance of brain and head injuries by up to 88%. Studies also show that 9 out of 10 children will wear their helmets if parents wear theirs.
