WMU-Cooley graduates take part in virtual swearing-in ceremony

Due to Covid-19 precautions, 36 graduates of WMU-Cooley’s Michigan campuses were sworn into the Michigan Bar virtually on May 15.

WMU-Cooley graduates joined nearly 100 other Michigan bar passers who were given a unique opportunity by the Michigan Supreme Court and State Bar of Michigan to be sworn in by Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Bridget McCormack, upon a motion presented by State Bar of Michigan President Dennis Barnes. The ceremony was carried out online, allowing the graduates to invite family and friends to participate in the ceremony from remote locations.

In addition to the graduates, WMU-Cooley faculty and staff members were able to join the ceremony remotely.

WMU-Cooley graduates sworn into the Michigan Bar during the special virtual ceremony included: Arturo Alfaro, William Balcer III, Amia Banks, Patrick Batterson, Nehme Bazzi, Joshua Bissoon-Dath, Douglas Blease, Scott Block, Alexandra Breske, Jonathan Brignall, Brien Brockway, Keith Brown, Daniel Callton, Fatme Chehadeh, Tracey DeVries, Kristin Finkbeiner, Jonathan Glab, Anthony Hu Hang, Joyce Hill, Anthony Juillet, Jason Juretich, Ashley Kagey, Edward Maciejewski, Heather McNett, Jamil Mourad, Kristen Olsen, Michael Parish, Jennifer Rutkowski, Madison Skinner, Joshua Thomas, Jessie Thueme, Ashley Van Fleet, Steven Vandelier, David Williams II, Mia Williams, and Brittney Wozniak.

Following the ceremony WMU-Cooley graduate Judge Rosemarie Aquilina of 30th Circuit Court hosted the Ingham County Bar Association virtual reception.
