Dykema's Jason Hanselman named to ICBA Board of Directors

Jason Hanselman has been named to the Board of Directors of the Ingham County Bar Association. The Board directs the work of the County Bar, which provides programs and services designed to improve the judicial system, foster and enhance the quality of legal services in the community, and provide educational and professional programs for local attorneys.

Hanselman is an attorney in Dykema's Lansing office. He advises educational institutions, corporations, non-profit entities, Native American tribes, and others in highly-regulated fields, such as election law, campaign finance, public education, and casino gaming. He regularly represents those clients in litigation before state and federal courts and regulatory proceedings before administrative boards and panels.

Hanselman also advises candidates, committees, campaigns, and businesses regarding state and federal campaign finance law, election law, and compliance issues related to lobbying, ethics, and financial disclosure. He has advised Presidential, United States Senate, and gubernatorial campaigns, as well as state house, senate, and judicial candidates. He also has advised a variety of local and statewide ballot questions and voter initiated proposals. In 2005, Hanselman successfully defended Detroit's incumbent mayor in one of the largest recounts in Michigan's history.

As an advisor to educational institutions including public universities, community colleges and intermediate school districts, Hanselman's counsel has been instrumental in forming more than one hundred charter schools in Michigan.

Prior to joining Dykema, Hanselman worked at the Michigan Supreme Court, State Court Administrative Office, the United States Internal Revenue Service, and the Michigan House of Representatives.
