ABA Business Law Section to host inaugural meeting

 The American Bar Association Business Law Section will host its inaugural Section Annual Meeting on Sept. 11-13 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.  More than 1,300 registrants are expected to attend over 300 sessions, covering more than 50 business law-related practice areas.

Program highlights include:
“A Dialogue with Keith Higgins, SEC Director of the Division of Corporation Finance,” hosted by the Business Law Section’s  Federal Regulation of Securities Committee on Friday, Sept.12, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Higgins is expected to talk about SEC rulemaking affecting public companies, among other things.
“Money Market Fund Reform Arrives (Finally): What a Long Strange Trip It’s Been,” from 4 to 5:30 p.m.  Panelists include: Patrick McCabe, a senior economist at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System; Sarah ten Sietoff, an assistant director in the Rulemaking Office of the SEC’s Division of Investment Management; Robert Plaze, a partner of Stroock Strook & Lavan and formerly with the SEC for almost 30 years; Buddy Donohue, managing director and Investment Company general counsel of Goldman Sachs Asset Management LLP; Karrie McMillan, who was general counsel at the Investment Company Institute for the 2010 reform and led the ICI’s efforts regarding the 2014 reform; and Jay G. Baris, chair of the Investment Management Practice of Morrison & Foerster.A
