What advice do you have for someone considering law school? Work hard to maintain a healthy school/life balance and don’t give up your hobbies. Create a schedule that includes time for outside of school activities whether it is working out, attending (MSU) sporting events, or spending time with friends. It will help make your law school experience much more enjoyable and prevent you from going crazy in the process.

You live in South Carolina while employed at Abood Law Firm in Ingham County. How do you make that work? At first, I found it challenging not being in the office. However, now that I have gotten used to it, my job and responsibilities really haven’t changed much since moving from Michigan. My responsibilities now consist primarily of research and drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs. One change I made that has allowed for a smooth transition is more communication with our incredible support staff and paying even closer attention to upcoming filing deadlines, conflicts, etc.

Favorite local hangouts: Beggar’s Banquet, Dublin Square, Reno’s, and now that I’m no longer in Michigan, I really miss Biggby!

Favorite websites: Pinterest, Amazon, Facebook.

What is your happiest childhood memory? Trips Up North or camping with my parents and older brother.

Which things do you not like to do? I have a serious aversion to bowling, but I have no idea why.

What would surprise people about your job? People are surprised when I tell them that I am an attorney, but I work at home. When questioned about it, I usually respond that much of an attorney’s work occurs outside of the courtroom, including research and drafting motions, petitions, and briefs.

What has been your favorite year so far? This year! I live in South Carolina, am married to an amazing man, had a beautiful baby boy in August, and have been able to continue working for an excellent firm.

What’s your most typical mood? Positive, energetic, cheerful.

What’s the most awe-inspiring place you’ve ever been? My husband and I went to Bora Bora on our honeymoon and it was by far the most beautiful place I have ever been. Indescribable.

If you could have one super power, what would it be? To fly. I had to be told that time travel wasn’t really a super power.
What would you say to your 16-year-old self? Don’t worry about what you “should” be doing as far as what classes to take or future plans and goals. Listen to yourself and follow your heart. Oh…. and definitely throw out your Velcro pocket jeans.

What do you do to relax? I love to go to the beach with a good book.

How would you describe your home? Classic with a slightly modern touch.

If you were starting all over again and couldn’t go into law, what career path would you choose? I’ve always had a passion for animals, so something in an animal related field, such as animal rescue or being a veterinarian.

What’s one thing you would like to learn to do? I would love to learn how to surf.

What is something most people don’t know about you? My real hair color….

Can’t-live-without technology: Probably my cell phone. But, I absolutely love moments/weekends without it.

What do you drive? A white BMW.

What would you drive if money were no object? A white Range Rover.

What is your motto? “The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score.” — Bill Copeland
