On behalf of the Jackson Police Department and Jackson County Office of the Sheriff, applications are being accepted for the 2019 Citizen Police Academy (CPA).

Any Jackson County resident, age 18 and older, who is interested, is encouraged to apply. The CPA is aimed at citizens interested in gaining first-hand knowledge of the daily operations and procedures of the Jackson Police Department and the Jackson County Office of the Sheriff.

Successful applicants will meet on ten consecutive Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. beginning April 10.

Some of the topics covered will include Police K-9, Firearms Instruction, Narcotics Investigations and Use of Force Applications. Participants will have an opportunity to ride on patrol with an officer and test their skills on the shooting range with a firearm instructor.

Applications are available at the Jackson Police Department, Jackson County Office of the Sheriff, or online at http://www.cityofjackson.org/441/Citizens-Police-Academy.  Applications will be accepted through Monday, April 1 and must be returned to the Jackson Police Department.
