Chamber of Commerce announces Inclusive Community Initiative made possible by Consumers Energy

The Inclusive Community Initiative is a collaboration between the Jackson Chamber, the Jackson County Branch of the NAACP, and Consumers Energy that aims to help to connect minority-owned businesses with resources, opportunities, and the community at large. This initiative, and commitment from the NAACP and Consumers Energy, further allows the Chamber to live out its mission of “Creating a vibrant, inclusive community through meaningful partnerships, intentional connections and engagement.”

“Our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategy extends beyond our workforce,” said Angela Thompkins, Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer for Consumers Energy. “We are also deliberate in this space when it comes to our customers, communities and investors. We’re proud to partner with the Jackson Chamber and NAACP to lift up our community’s minority-owned businesses and nourish a spirit of inclusivity in our hometown.”

“The importance and significance of this newfound partnership is an opportunity to build meaningful partnerships, intentional connections and engage a part of the Jackson community that has been overlooked for far too long. We appreciate Consumers Energy’s leadership for taking the initiative and action to create a vibrant and truly inclusive community,” said Craig Hatch, Jackson County Chamber of Commerce president/CEO.
