Man accused of extorting businessman sentenced to five years

DETROIT (AP) — A man accused of extorting more than $2 million from a businessman who met his daughter in a strip club will spend at least five years in prison.

The Detroit News reports that Terry Tackett of Westland was sentenced  recently in federal court in Detroit. He had earlier pleaded guilty to tax evasion and money laundering.

Prosecutors say Tackett threatened to go to police in 2008 to expose the businessman’s sexual relationship with Tackett’s daughter and her teenage cousin.

Tackett’s wife, Kim Tackett, was charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice.

Their daughter, Jessica Tackett, also was charged, but she died last fall. She met the businessman while working as a stripper.
