Protest at New York Stock Exchange over GOP tax package

NEW YORK (AP) — Demonstrators chanted and protested outside the New York Stock Exchange to protest a Republican tax overhaul, with more than a dozen people arrested after blocking the exchange's entrance.

The crowd chanted, "Tax the rich, not the poor, we won't take it anymore" and "Kill the bill, don't kill us" as they gathered Monday in New York City's financial district.

Some demonstrators then sat down in front of the exchange, and were arrested after police warnings.

The $1.5 trillion GOP legislation permanently cuts the tax rate for corporations and has temporary tax cuts for individuals.

Critics say it is geared toward helping corporations and wealthy Americans more than the middle class.
