'Hollywood Nights'

An “Inaugural Gala” on Nov. 2 sporting the theme of “Hollywood Nights” gave a significant financial boost to the Vets Returning Home program based in Macomb County. The nonprofit organization, which receives no government funding, operates out of an 11,000-square-foot facility that supplies 43 beds for veterans in need. “We provide a stable and sober living environment for veterans in crisis,” according to Sandy Bower (second from right), founder and CEO of Vets Returning Home. Pictured with Bower at the fundraiser at Wyndgate Country Club in Rochester Hills are (left to right): retired Oakland County Circuit Judge Fred Mester; guest speaker Gregory Gadson, a retired colonel in the U.S. Army; and emcee Frank Beckman, WJR Radio personality and the former play-by-play announcer for University of Michigan football.
